8M

The 8M tablet hardness tester is a manual testing system to measure hardness, diameter, thickness and weight of virtually all tablet shapes and sizes. Precision mechanics and trouble-free operation have made the 8M one of the most popular quality control instruments in tablet manufacturing and research labs of internationally leading pharmaceutical companies. Tablets are placed in the machine individually and by hand. Reports including statistical analysis can be printed or sent to a 21 CFR, Part 11 compliant PC software for paperless reporting.

8M - Tablet hardness tester with up to 4 parameters to measure weight, thickness, diameter and hardness

Testing of up to 4 parameters

The 8M tablet hardness tester is a multi-purpose instrument for measuring up to 4 parameters including complete test reports. The operator can test and accumulate data for up to 100 tablets per test.

  • Precise measurement of tablet hardness, thickness, diameter and weight
  • Testing of virtually all tablet shapes and sizes
  • FastTest configuration for highly efficient operation
  • Programming of T1/T2/PL limits for all parameters
  • Different hardness measuring modes
  • Professional reporting incl. statistics
  • Various interfaces for connection of external devices
  • 21 CFR, Part 11 compliant PC software

Optimized for fast operation

The 8M in optional "FastTest" configuration consists of a standard 8M with 4 parameters (WTDH), a mounted thickness gauge and a Mettler analytical balance. After weighing, tablet samples are placed on a standard carousel mounted on top of the 8M. With one hand on the control button and the other turning the carousel, extremely quick and highly accurate thickness measuring is easily achieved.

With very little practice operators can test tablets in this manner as fast as any automatic tester!

Testing of virtually all tablet shapes

A wide range of special jaws is available to perform tests on uncommon tablet shapes or other materials. If you are looking for a custom test, our application specialists are happy to help you designing a test setup specifically for your application. Currently available jaws for special applications include:

  • Shear jaw, for bi-layer tablets
  • Jaw for 3-point break
  • Special jaw, for large test objects (e.g. wash tabs)
  • Special jaw, for ampoules
  • Special jaw, for extruded materials
Simple operation with LC display and panel

Simple operation

Operating the 8M is simple. Test menus, test parameters and results are shown on the LC display. Products can be programmed either via the standard panel or by connecting a keyboard for fast data entry.

On completion of a test run, a comprehensive test report is printed automatically. Each report shows all product and test parameters, the calibration date and individually measured values with statistical analysis.

Professional 21 CFR, Part 11 compliant PC software

Paperless reporting with PC software

The optional "TabStat Light" PC software makes data collection and analysis easy and reliable. Data export to other programs such as Microsoft Excel is simple and done with just a few mouse clicks. The software fully complies with 21 CFR, Part 11 requirements - particularly those pertaining to electronic signature and user access levels.

Documentation and calibration

Each 8M is calibrated, verified and tested according to strict quality procedures before it leaves our factory. An internal test report is included with each tester.

Regular calibration and verification using traceable weights is recommended to ensure accurate results at all times. To quickly check the hardness measuring functionality of your 8M before a test is performed, function checking devices (FCD) with a rating of 5Kp, 10Kp, 15Kp and 20Kp can be used.
